The Dojo Data Science team is responsible for developing the next-generation data-driven talent management solution that can help organizations solve their talent needs and help individuals reach their full potential. WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Dojo is currently at the beginning phase of scaling our data capabilities for the future. We are looking for a  Senior Data Architect to provide a clear data architecture solution in the next six months with these major milestones:

・Design documentation for the entire data architecture (data lake or data lakehouse) with a consideration of the big picture, future uncertainties and scalability.
・Deliver clear actionable items to pass to software engineers to build architecture.
・Develop playbooks, standardized frameworks, practice guides and other artifacts that will allow our practitioners to perform their work in a structured, standard manner.

Competitive candidates for this role will be able to discuss their experience in the following areas:
・Significant and demonstrable Data Architecture capability.  Experience with deliverables including…
   ・Data management platform solution design, both on-prem and cloud deployments
   ・Data model and warehouse design, including ingestion & ETL from source to storage
   ・Data integration, transformation, curation, conformance and feature engineering
   ・Data reliability engineering, security and syndication, governance, stewardship, disaster recovery and backup systems

・Proven experience ​​building actual data pipelines using cloud services (AWS preferable)
・Hands-on experience supporting data science work and implementing full-stack scalable data science products and machine learning solutions to solve various business issues.
・Familiarity with Japanese enterprise architecture standards, Data security, and data governance rule is a significant plus but not a hard requirement.
・Ability and willingness to mentor junior team members and provide suggestions on optimized or best practice approaches.

RESPONSIBILITIES
・Development of data management strategies, architecture frameworks and roadmaps with a focus on performance, security, scalability, reliability, high availability, and disaster recovery.
・Serve as the owner or administrator for the data management portions of Dojo microservice systems.
・Support data scientists to facilitate the development process on Machine Learning models and cooperate with MLOps engineers for CI/CD production deployment.
・Provide the optimal architecture and delivery approach that will service stakeholders’ needs with a balance of costs, capability, and risks to achieve the business outcomes.
・Responsible for the ETL process required to extract data from internal and external sources(API), transform, clean, and move the data so they can be loaded and stored properly.
・Build and maintain complex queries, streaming and real-time data pipelines in support of data fabric and data mesh data management approaches.
・Keep up to date on the latest technologies and solutions (data modeling and data management platforms, tools, and techniques), and continuously optimize the existing solutions and infrastructures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Data Architecture
・Current implementation and architecture experience in data lake, analytics, data migration, machine learning and integration scenarios; this will likely include technologies such as Amazon Elastic Compute (EC2), Amazon Data Pipeline, S3, DynamoDB NoSQL, Relational Database Service (RDS), Elastic Map Reduce (EMR), Apache Hadoop/Spark, Amazon Redshift, and/or data migration services with demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
・Strong experience in API Lifecycle and API Management and Governance as well as a strong understanding of REST Principles, RAML and Swagger.

Software Engineering
・Experience with common data storage patterns in Service Oriented Architecture / Microservice backends.
・Experience with building, owning, managing and operating data platforms.
・Experience with devtools: Jira, Github, Gitlab, Jenkins and proficient in using programming languages Python.

Data Science/Engineering
・Deep understanding of data science principles of BI reporting/visualization, cloud computing and machine learning
・Can provide best practices on MLOps, data pipelines (ETL/ELT), storage, compute, and visualization layers of our data architecture
・Proficient in SQL and know how to write the most efficient SQL query when doing complicated joins and aggregations. Know how to create maintainable schemas for analytical workloads using SQL.
・Proven track record working with database technologies including but not limited to SQL, RDBMS, NoSQL, and familiarity with Distributed Systems Architecture (Apache Airflow, Apache Kafka, Luigi, etc.), real-time data/event streaming and warehouse modeling.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Ideally have built data architecture and platforms in accordance with APPI (Act on the Protection of Personal Information) or GDPR
  • Experience in making buy vs. build decisions on data lake/lakehouse and/or data governance solutions
  • proficient in using one other programming language (R, Java, Scala)
  • Strong familiarity with enterprise architecture standards (i.e. TOGAF), and best practices
  • Passionate about education and the value it brings to humanity in general
  • Business level Japanese (JLPT N2)
