About the team

Data Science Engineering is the engine that powers the efficient application of data at Stripe. We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Leader to take the helm. You’ll manage a team of senior managers and, through them, grow a strong org of software engineers and data engineers delivering data-as-a-product for Stripe and enabling the insights and algorithms that inform, underpin, and scale revolutionary financial products. 

This is a unique opportunity at the intersection of engineering, science, and business that spans the data stack – from pipelining and core schema to science tooling and personalization services. You will work with your team and internal customers to create and execute on a product vision that will solve data needs to unlock Stripe’s future growth.

  • Work with Data Science, Engineering, Product, and Business leaders across Stripe to develop and execute on a data-first company strategy that scales with Stripe
  • Develop the long-term vision for Data Science Engineering, and create and deliver on an impactful execution roadmap
  • Build data applications that ensure data consumers achieve a high level of productivity and quality for maximal business impact

Who you are

We are looking for experience developing a long-term technical vision and driving clarity in highly ambiguous technical environments; will also be a strong coach, exceptional communicator and collaborator, and have a drive to deliver impact in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. 

Minimum requirements

  • Experience building complex, business-critical data systems
  • Experience managing engineering teams and senior leaders, with a strong record of shipping
  • Experience growing teams of 30+ engineer
  • Managed managers for 3+ years
  • Domain expertise in data engineering, data science, and/or machine learning
  • The ability to work well cross-functionally, think rigorously, and make hard tradeoffs
  • The ability to thrive with a high level of autonomy and responsibility
