About the team

Many of the millions of businesses on Stripe have trouble accessing the capital they need to grow. Stripe Capital aims to change that. We combine Stripe’s proprietary data with sophisticated modeling to offer businesses on Stripe fair, affordable, and transparent financing. Though still in its early stages, Capital has emerged as one of Stripe’s most promising products.

What you'll do

Stripe’s Capital Markets team is responsible for funding our loans and other financial products. This role will work closely with our Engineering, Risk and Data Science teams and collaborate with cross-functional partners across Finance, Treasury, and Accounting to execute on our financing strategies and develop investor solutions and analytical tools for portfolio management.  Candidates should have experience with financing transactions, managing investor operations, working with alternative lenders and analyzing large proprietary and third party datasets. 

Responsibilities

  • Work with the engineering, data science and risk teams to support capital markets products and services
  • Develop highly-visible dashboards and automated reporting related to key performance metrics, sales targets and adherence to contractual requirements
  • Manage ongoing investor communications, investor reporting and information requests
  • Understand and leverage the data assets of Stripe and Stripe Capital to analyze investor performance/portfolio stratifications for existing and new products
  • Work with unstructured data to develop insights and recommendations
  • Coordinate with investors, partners and financing counter-parties throughout the onboarding phase, and drive due diligence and internal review processes
  • Align with our Engineering teams to build and operationalize workflows to facilitate transaction activity
  • Coordinate across product, treasury, finance and strategy, and credit/risk teams to drive capital markets initiatives

Minimum requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis; including managing credit portfolios and experience working with small business users at an alternative lender, hedge fund, investment bank, asset manager or rating agency, or a comparable capital markets role
  • Experience structuring and executing ABS financing transactions, including warehouse facilities, loan sales / forward flow, and/or securitizations
  • Experience working with both internal and external stakeholders and the ability to closely manage expectations and deliverables in a timely manner
  • Strong analytical skill set and a rigorous, data-driven approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to think creatively and critically and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and often ambiguous work environment
  • Ability to communicate results clearly with a focus on driving impact
  • Strong technical expertise, including SQL. Experience with R or Python (optional)

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with R or Python or a willingness/aptitude to learn
  • Advanced degree in statistics, econometrics, operations research, mathematics, engineering, or a related analytical field of study
