The General Assembly Automation Engineer will be responsible for taking the lead role in designing new automated General Assembly equipment at Lucid. The General Assembly Automation Engineer will work closely with Logistics, Manufacturing Operations, Manufacturing Engineers, Product Engineering, New Product Introduction and other cross-functional teams to ensure the General Assembly process is properly designed and implemented.
The Role
The Manufacturing Engineering team is seeking a Senior Automation engineer to focus on Robotics for our future general assembly lines and should have extensive practical and hands-on experience in all aspects of robotics application (Urethane dispensing, torque application, material handling), and process optimization, upgrades and modification.
Responsible for design/selecting robotic system, run simulation, implementation, commissioning, and programming.
Responsible to develop end effector concept and design a lean process sequence with minimum double handling
Perform stack up tolerance analysis and effectively communicate with product dimensional and process engineers
Support and assist controls engineer in troubleshooting breakdowns and continuing equipment failure
Generation of RFQs for automation equipment to support the automated assembly processes in the assembly shop
Develop maintenance documents and training materials
Qualifications
BS in electrical, mechatronics, or robotics engineering
DCS knowledge is needed
5+ years extensive experience Robotic programming and application.
Excellent robotic background and programming skills on Fanuc, Kuka needed.
Proven project management experiences
Basic PLC programming knowledge
2D/3D vision system is also desirable(Cognex, Keyence, …)
7th and 8th axis applications
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Catia and Delmia
Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
