Senior Data Engineer at Checkout.com:
Checkout.com is looking for an ambitious Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Platform Team. Our team’s mission is to ultimately provide all the tools/platforms which will ensure data is an asset that can be easily leveraged to the benefit of our products, merchants, and internal stakeholders/teams.
Our focus should be on maximizing the amount of time other teams spend on solving business problems/innovating their products and minimizing time spent on technical details around implementation, deployment, and monitoring of their data-driven solutions.
We are building for scale. As such, much of what we design and implement today will be the technology/infrastructure which will serve hundreds of teams and petabyte-level volumes of data.
Strong engineering background with an interest in data
Experience working with relational databases at low level (architecture, logging, HA)
Experience working with data replication solutions such as Qlik replicate
Experience working with SQL and Python
Comfortable with unix shell and shell scripting
Experience describing infrastructure as code using Terraform or similar
Experience using, designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines
Creative problem solver with strong attention to detail
What you will be doing:
Design and implement tools/systems/processes to:
Replicate data from RDBMS to our Snowflake data warehouse
Guarantee we are GDPR/PCI compliant
Monitor replication tasks and meet strict SLAs
Handle failover and recovery procedures of replication pipelines
Automate manual processes
Reduce latency of data ingested/available in Snowflake
Increase governance of our datasets (data cataloguing, information discovery, etc)
Actively address any technical/documentation/monitoring debt
