Mission:
Our Data team is growing! We’re looking for an exceptional staff data scientist to join us and help use data to improve and simplify the ways we identify and work with the businesses in Bill.com’s network. You’ll become part of a team of data scientists and product analysts who work closely with the Product Management, Engineering, Risk and Marketing teams at Bill.com. You’ll become a thought leader within our team, both by driving your own work and by providing technical guidance and oversight for more junior team members.
Professional Experience/Background to be successful in this role:
Minimum 6 years of industry experience in data science
An advanced degree (M.S., PhD.), preferably in Statistics, Physical Sciences, Computer Science, Economics, or a related technical field
Experience using statistics and data science to solve complex business problems
Proficiency in SQL, Python including key data science libraries
Explore machine learning model applications to identify growth opportunities, improve customer experiences and predict product risk
Outstanding data analysis and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate analysis and insights to technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to foster collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams
Coach and develop junior team members

Expected Outcomes in 3, 6, or 12 months:
Partner with Marketing, Product and Risk teams to define business problems and recommend data and model driven solutions
Create and deploy ML models to predict product usage and create customer segmentation
Create and deploy ML models to predict fraud and credit characteristics of small business customers
Create and deploy ML models to determine firmographic characteristics of businesses (e.g., number of employees, industry classification) based on internal and external data sources
Continuously evolve the strategies and models to improve the risk strategy performance
Identify and evaluate new data sources to build effective fraud controls for online transactions
Provide on-going tracking and monitoring of performance of decision systems and statistical models
